Finished rebuilding the old Stratocaster. Click on photos to enlarge them.

This is the finished body - some of the other photos have the (white) JB in the middle position. This photo shows the stringsavers saddles (graphite for increased sustain) and new knobs.

An older body shot. Strings now pass through the body (increased sustain).

Grover locking tuners - they grip the strings so need fewer windings (look at them close-up).

Another older body shot.

The new pickups. Bridge has old saddles (before stringsavers were fitted).

  • Mighty Mite pickups.
  • Original Fender switch and potentiometers.
  • Gold Scratch Plate
  • Gold Control Plate
  • Brass Bridge
  • Strings-through-body (originally through bridge).
  • Vintage Wiring and completely shielded.

Modifications to X50

  • New OBL blade pickups
  • Complete re-wiring and shielding.
  • Volume and tone combined onto one knob (top knob, nearest strings).
  • Blender knob for both pickups (both on max in centre position) - bottom knob.
  • Series/Parallel/Split switch to get closer to single-coil sounds
  • Roller tune-o-matic bridge - makes bending even easier
